ALTA is seeking Archaeological Crew Members for upcoming projects in northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area. The individual will assist the Field Director in completing archaeological pedestrian surveys, site recordation, test and data recovery excavations, construction monitoring and other necessary tasks. We are looking for an individual enthusiastic about her/his work with a strong commitment to technical excellence. This position will require frequent travel away from the home office. The ideal candidate should be able to work full-time on an as-needed basis. 

PAY: $20-30 / hour 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to conduct archaeological fieldwork and lab processing; 

  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail, positive work ethic, and reliability;

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively; 

  • Exhibit positive and respectful behavior toward Native American representatives;

  • Observe and uphold Health and Safety requirements;

  • Excellent communication and fundamental writing skills; 

  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); and

  • Knowledge of GIS/GPS spatial data collection and processing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Undergraduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology or related field.

  • At least 6 months of professional experience in cultural resources management.

  • Valid driver’s license.
