ALTA is seeking SOI-qualified archaeologists to manage and direct cultural resources projects in California. Duties will include conducting desktop and archival research, directing survey, field excavations, resource evaluation, data recovery, construction monitoring, laboratory analysis, and technical report preparation. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in fieldwork and technical writing, and an interest in expanding skills in a collaborative team environment.

PAY: $30-40 / hour 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to conduct archaeological fieldwork, lab processing, and/or or technical analysis and report preparation;

  • Strong technical writing skills;

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively;

  • Strong work ethic, demonstrated leadership ability, excellent communication and writing skills; 

  • Exhibit positive and respectful behavior toward Native American representatives;

  • Observe and uphold Health and Safety requirements;

  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight on short- and long-term projects;

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; and

  • Knowledge of GIS/GPS spatial data collection and processing

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology or related field.

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in cultural resources management

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • A history of working with private, public-sector clients, and regulatory agencies.
