Officer Bradley A. Moody Memorial Underpass Project

The City of Richmond contacted the ALTA team to facilitate construction of a grade separation project. Once involved in the project, we authored the Archaeological Research Design and Treatment Plan to guide the field investigations of a large, prehistoric shell mound village site located along the San Francisco Bayshore.

During the five-month field recovery operation, our crew of 35 archaeologists hand-excavated over 200 tons of cultural deposit. With great perseverance, we successfully provided adequate mitigation for the construction project. Our work has since been published in peer-reviewed journals, chapters in edited volumes, and proceedings of professional societies.
